Project Controls Engineer

Description

• Prepare monthly expenditure reports and compile financial summaries for project and program tracking
• Submit daily logs and updates through required project platforms
• Update and manage project data in digital project-management systems, including uploading supporting documents and ensuring information remains current
• Serve as a financial and administrative resource for project teams, providing accurate data to support decision-making
• Coordinate with project teams and accounting staff to support invoice submissions, payment tracking, and timely cost forecasting
• Generate and analyze bi-weekly labor reports, collaborating with project managers to identify discrepancies or unauthorized charges
• Maintain familiarity with all project procedures, manuals, and documentation relevant to assigned work
• Assist construction engineers in developing cost estimates and financial projections to support budgeting and cost control

Requirements

• Minimum of 5 years of experience in project controls, preferably with a focus on cost management
• Proficiency with Microsoft 365, Oracle PeopleSoft, and Procore required
• Prior experience supporting projects for major transit agencies such as WMATA, or familiarity with their procedures and systems is a strong plus
• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field
• Strong communication abilities, including technical writing and clear documentation practices
• Experience working within large transportation, transit, or public-infrastructure environments is highly beneficial
• Demonstrated ability to support multiple active projects in a fast-paced engineering or construction environment
