Wireless Network Engineer

Description

The Telecommunications Engineer within APD’s Telecommunications team is responsible for the on-site deployment and commissioning of the radio transport network, focusing on private LTE networks to achieve optimal performance in mission-critical mining environments. Our clients include energy providers and Tier 1 miners in the critical minerals sector.

• On-Site Technical Support: Provide expert-level support for operational systems directly at the site, ensuring health and safety standards are met.
• Solution Development: Develop networking solutions for Private & Non-Private LTE networks, contributing to platform architectures and strategies.
• Conduct SAT/SIT testing with clients at mining sites.
• Keep up-to-date with emerging technologies in the Private LTE sector and broader LTE network technologies.
• The Telecommunications Engineer, an expert in LTE RAN and Microwave networks, reports directly to the Principal Architect and works closely with the delivery team, customers, and partners to ensure end-to-end network solutions are successfully implemented.
• Assist solution architects in pre-sales activities by providing practical insights from field experience.
• Deploy and commission LTE-related network hardware such as RAN, microwave, and user equipment (UE) on-site.
• Analyse customer network requirements on-site to tailor solutions effectively.
• Troubleshoot system issues and offer high-level support for operational networks as required.
• Develop, document, and execute test strategies for hardware and network-wide testing.
• Hands-On Deployment: Physically install, configure, and commission microwave, LTE, and IP-MPLS hardware in rugged mining environments.
• Design and implement RAN/Microwave network solutions with a strong emphasis on reliability & quality of works.
• Plan, set up, and manage FAT/FIT test environments.

Requirements

Applicants must be willing to undertake a pre-employment medical and provide proof of valid working rights in Australia.

• Frequent travel to various mining sites for deployments, testing, and handover activities.
• Experience with Nokia. Ceragon hardware technologies(desirable)
