  • Support engineering and business partners to ensure that newly developed repair processes, procedures, limits, etc. are properly incorporated into appropriate shop, vendor, and engineering manuals & documents.
  • Lead and chair technical reviews as part of the tollgate design processes.
  • Share engineering information and promote open dialogue. This includes timely communications on significant issues or developments
  • Prepare and present technical data to internal and external customers, including leadership.
  • Ensure proper documentation of technical data generated for assigned projects/tasks in line with engineering policies and procedures.
  • Lead the repair process qualifications in coordination with AM&RT and work with engineering partners to support repair standardization and industrialization.
  • Serve as mentor to newly formed component repair engineers as process and procedures are developed.
  • Develop and propose new repair procedures and inspection methods.
  • Lead and execute design, analysis and evaluation of assigned engine components to ensure their operational life and substantiate the define repairability limits.
  • Provide technical leadership to personnel supporting assigned projects to find creative solutions to complex problems with technical variety and/or interdependent processes. This will include being a resource for less experienced colleagues.
  • Act as the technical focal point for the disposition of component repair Departure Records (DRs) related to your assigned components.
  • Leverage prior experience and knowledge and broaden knowledge of one’s own technical discipline to meet product deliverables. This may require use of multiple internal and external resources outside of own function to help arrive at a decision.
  • Provides oversight and direction for the creation of component CAD models, drawings, and specifications for gas turbine components.
  • Recommend approaches to meet technical and program requirements.

  • Gas turbine design knowledge/background.
  • Strong interpersonal and collaborative team skills. Ability to connect effectively with a broad group of stakeholders.
  • Use judgment to make decisions or solve moderately complex tasks or problems in areas of operational/product management, manufacturing, technology or engineering. Takes new perspective on existing solutions. Uses technical experience and expertise for data analysis to support recommendations. Uses multiple internal and limited external sources outside of own function to arrive at decisions.
  • Strong technical aptitude related to components and systems of increasing complexity.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Materials Engineering, or equivalent from an accredited college or university.
  • Experience with inspection technologies, including FPI, X-Ray, and Eddy Current.
  • The role involves significant interaction with global teams and may require travel up to 20% to internal and external repair vendor sites.
  • Solid oral and written communication skills.
  • Act as a resource for colleagues with less experience. May lead small projects with moderate risks and resource requirements. Explains difficult or sensitive information; works to build consensus. Developing persuasion skills required to influence others on topics within field.
  • Experience with repair special processes, including welding, brazing, thermal spray, heat treat, machining, blending, coating, and surface treatments.
  • Strong project management skills
  • Minimum of 8 years of relevant experience in gas turbine or equivalent component repair process and practices.
  • Strong prioritization and organizational skills
