Ecology Consultant

Overview

Conduct ecological assessments, bat data analysis, GIS studies, and reporting for UK projects.

Tasks

-Engage in Continuing Professional Development (CPD). -Author technical ecological reports. -Analyse bat sound data (Anabat Insight/Kaleidoscope). -Work to tight deadlines using approved methodologies. -Support bid preparation and manage work enquiries under senior guidance. -Use GIS tools (QGIS/ArcGIS) for desk studies, site scoping, protected species records, and biodiversity net gain assessments. -Liaise daily with UK teams and build strong working relationships. -Perform ad hoc tasks as required by process leads. -Collaborate with team members and manage workload independently.

-Strong data analysis and report writing skills. -Quick learner, adaptable, and organized. -Works independently or in multidisciplinary teams. -Highly motivated, proactive, and focused on technical excellence. -Effective in report writing, presentations, and verbal communication. -Proficient in GIS (QGIS/ArcGIS). -Shares knowledge and complies with Health & Safety policies. -Open to feedback, career discussions, and team leadership. -Membership of CIEEM. -Understands time-budget-performance relationship. -3–4 years of experience in ecology projects (UK region preferred). -Degree in Ecology, Environmental Sciences, or Environmental Engineering. -Able to prioritize and manage multiple tasks. -Strong collaboration, interpersonal, and communication skills. -Familiarity with UKHab classification and Defra Metric. -Experience in international projects. -Experience with Anabat Insight/Kaleidoscope. -Understanding of UK/EU Wildlife Legislation, planning policies, and licensing. -Project management (technical, financial, QA).
