Operations Manager- Phoenix South

Description

Responsible for the efficient and accurate daily operations of the shipping, receiving, transportation, and production departments. This position requires the ability to develop, implement, control, and adjust branch plans to mirror the company’s growth strategy while simultaneously leading the team to achieve operational goals and efficiency targets for the branch in a safe productive environment.

• Hiring, coaching, teaching, training, development, and performance evaluation of current employees and supervisors.
• Daily activities for shipping, receiving, inventory control, and transportation departments.
• Working with GM or DC Manager to develop goals and objectives for the operations department.
• Oversees and develops plans for efficient use of materials, machines, and employees by analyzing and adjusting daily, weekly and monthly to the volume of business in the branch.
• Practice Lean programs within the branch and proactively drive continuous improvement.
• Protects the assets of the company by implementing appropriate security and process controls.
• Creation of capital expenditure requests and costs justifications for these expenditures.
• Regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, and feel; reach with hands and arms; talk and hear.
• Ensures that all products built, received and/or shipped meet or exceed customer expectations.
• Ensures a safe working environment for all employees.
• Communicates priorities, progress, and expectations through daily huddle meetings (5- 10 minutes long) and monthly department meetings.

• 4+ years’ experience and/or training
• Must be able to pick product that might weigh as much as 72lbs and be up to 17 feet long
• Experience in millwork and building materials is desirable
• Must be able to read, analyze, and interpret common technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents.

• Experience in managerial assignments in the distribution industry is desirable
• Bachelor’s degree with a concentration in logistics or related field
• Lean or Six Sigma experience is beneficial
• Occasionally required to sit and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl
• Noise level in the office is minimal, work in the shop and warehouse may require safety equipment such as earplugs, eye protection, steel toe shoes, etc.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, and PowerPoint)
• Regularly required to stand and walk.
• Must have the ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers or members of the business community.
• Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume – ability to apply concepts of basic Algebra and Geometry.
