Perform circuit analysis: load flow, voltage stability, fault current, motor start, power quality emission limit and protection coordination studies. Design equipment settings.
Work effectively with Project and Program teams to deliver Capital Programs.
Investigate, analyze, and solve a variety of engineering problems, many of which are challenging and unusual in nature. Contribute to the development of technical standards and design practices.
Validate the scope of planned Capital Projects and provide feedback to the Distribution Planning Team.
Impart engineering knowledge: give instructions, advice and technical guidance to other engineers, project managers, designer technicians, design technologists, and technical support staff.
Fulfill the role of Owner’s Engineer by reviewing the work of external consultants to ensure accuracy, achievement of required results, meeting BC Hydro system needs, and adherence to accepted engineering practices.
Develop and maintain effective professional relationships with internal and external colleagues and clients to determine relative priorities, assess the impact of work on others and resolve issues of concern.
Make recommendations for system improvements and the connection of new customers to the Distribution Planning team.
Work closely with stakeholders to reach consensus and drive innovation, finding engineering solutions that add value, address employee and public safety, protect the environment, balance competing interests, and address full life cycle cost.
Technical knowledge in both overhead and underground electric utility distribution systems operating at voltages up to and including 35kV.
Organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
Practical knowledge and sound judgment in the analysis and resolution of problems.
A condition of employment for this job is that you maintain a Driver's License: Class 5 In Good Standing.
Strong leadership, teamwork, relationship management, and inter-personal skills.

Good verbal and written communications skills to adequately articulate and discuss technical options, present proposed solutions to a wide range of audiences, and the ability to adapt to the different understanding levels of the audience.
A degree in Electrical Engineering from a recognized/accredited university. Engineering degrees in other disciplines may be considered if the candidate has the required level of applicable experience for this position.
A minimum of 8 years of relevant engineering experience in utility distribution engineering or an equivalent industry is preferred for the senior level. The salary range reflects the Sr. Engineer base pay. - Candidates with lesser qualifications and experience are encouraged to apply and may be considered for intermediate or junior engineering roles as part of our engineering career path.
Registration, or eligibility for immediate registration, as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng) with Engineers and Geoscientists of BC (EGBC) to be considered for the Sr. Engineer or Engineer 2 role. - Applicants must be registered or eligible for immediate registration, as an Engineer in Training (EIT) with Engineers and Geoscientists of BC (EGBC) to be considered as an Engineer 1.

Annual Salary: $ 107,000.00 - 135,300.00
