Developing an enhanced customer liaison function across SPT for customers connecting to the transmission network, ensuring all customers receive first class customer service throughout their connections journey with SPT.
Preparing the team for the introduction of the RIIO-T3 price control, commencing in April 2026, ensuring the relevant resources, priorities and governance procedures are in place for SPEN to deliver its commercial obligations and outputs in a timely and coordinated manner.
Supporting the ongoing development and career progression of the 3 first line reports, as well as supporting the ongoing development and wellbeing of the Commercial team, during a period of significant reform.
Leading an excellent, high-performing and busy team of 16 FTE with 3 first line reports through a period of significant industry change and reform, in the form of connections reform and the commencement of the RIIO-T3 price control framework.
Influencing and challenging the ongoing industry-wide review of the connections framework and wider commercial policy and code changes, identifying commercial opportunities in SPEN’s interests.
Ensuring that the Commercial team, as well as other relevant teams across SPT, have the relevant support, resources, processes and systems in place to deliver and implement the connections reform changes and new enduring connections model in a timely manner, for our connecting customers.

Extensive energy policy or regulatory experience essential.
Excellent written and oral communication skills, including the abilities to influence and persuade effectively.
Advanced Microsoft Office, Excel, PowerPoint and Word skills (all packages).
Experience of the negotiation and agreement of contractual terms and conditions within the energy sector.
Numerically articulate with strong attention to detail.
Ability to devise solutions to complex problems/challenges and applying innovative thinking where necessary.
Economics, policy or legal related degree desirable.
A track record of delivery, ideally in a relevant area of activity.
Ability to consult others within the business, resolve differences and present a common agreed perspective.
Ability to communicate complex commercial concepts to both commercial and non-commercial audiences, verbally and in writing.
Self-motivated and driven individual with proven leadership skills to identify and deliver the priorities of the Transmission Commercial team during a time of significant industry change.
