Water/Wastewater - Project Superintendent

Description

The superintendent will oversee safety, quality, short‑term scheduling, permits, documentation, material handling, subcontract coordination, hiring, as‑built drawings, post‑construction review, tool management, contract compliance, site security, budget adherence, reporting, scope changes, and site cleanliness.

• Monitor and enforce safe workplace and safety policies.
• Ensure quality standards are met or exceeded.
• Create short‑term schedules for manpower and equipment.
• Coordinate permits and regulatory inspections.
• Control field documents, including daily reports and progress photographs.
• Manage material receiving, inventory, storage, and spare parts.
• Coordinate subcontractors and oversee jobsite hiring as needed.
• Prepare as‑built drawings and participate in post‑construction review.
• Manage small tools and maintain jobsite security.
• Complete projects within time and budget constraints.
• Provide accurate quantity reporting and timekeeping.
• Identify and communicate scope changes to the Project Manager.
• Maintain a clean and orderly jobsite.
• Supervise water or wastewater industry projects.

Requirements

Wharton‑Smith, Inc. is seeking an experienced Project Superintendent with a water/wastewater background for the Jacksonville, FL area. The role involves directing and supervising all jobsite field personnel on assigned water and wastewater treatment plant and line work construction projects.

Candidates must have supervisory experience in water or wastewater projects, including self‑performing concrete, piping, and mechanical work. Strong communication skills, computer proficiency, and current safety certifications are required, along with a proven record of completing multimillion‑dollar projects.

• Prefer experience managing craft and self‑performing work.
• Experience with cast‑in‑place concrete, piping, and mechanical equipment.
• Demonstrate strong communication and people skills.
• Proficient in MS Outlook, Word, and Excel.
• Current training as a Competent Person for trenching, scaffolds, rigging, confined space, and fall protection.
• Current OSHA 10‑hour, First Aid & CPR, SWPPP Inspector, silica, risk management, and accident training.
• History of successfully completing multimillion‑dollar projects.
