The company is hiring a Senior Electrical Designer to lead the detailed design of electrical packages and advance Venture Global’s Electrical Engineering Standards. Reporting to the Electrical Engineering Manager, the senior designer will collaborate with engineers and designers to deliver detailed designs for high‑voltage, medium‑voltage, low‑voltage, and protection systems. This role combines technical expertise with leadership of junior design staff.
The Senior Electrical Designer serves as the primary drafting and design interface, ensuring quality through rigorous checks and maintaining accurate records. They monitor project progress, guide junior designers, and coordinate all electrical drawings across HV, MV, and LV installations while adhering to client requirements and company procedures. The position also involves site walk‑downs, technical liaison with other disciplines, and compliance with the Quality Assurance system.
- Act as drafting and design interface for projects and proposals
- Perform quality checks on drafting and design, maintaining records
- Monitor and report design progress to Engineering Manager
- Induct and enforce drafting procedures for personnel
- Liaise with other disciplines on technical issues
- Work independently on advanced design assignments for small and medium projects
- Collaborate within a team with minimal supervision
- Execute moderate to difficult drafting tasks using established standards and software
- Oversee preparation of design and detail drawings from sketches or specifications
- Design and draft HV, MV, and LV electrical installations
- Direct junior designers and ensure compliance with client and project specifications
- Participate in client design reviews and advise on technical and compliance matters
- Deliver work within established time and project constraints
- Develop layouts, plans, sections, elevations, and details from reference material
- Perform dimensional and routine calculations for drawing preparation; file electrical documents
- Conduct site walkdowns for raceway routing and related tasks
- Coordinate all electrical drawings across disciplines
- Operate within the project’s Quality Assurance system guidelines
- Produce cable schedules and perform cable pulling, tray sizing, and selection calculations
- Conduct lighting calculations using software such as AGI32
- Perform material take‑offs and bulk material selection
- Design heat‑tracing system layouts

Candidates must have at least ten years of experience as an Electrical Design Lead in the oil and gas sector and be proficient with engineering workshare, 3‑D modelling (AutoPlant/PDMS/PDS), and CAD tools such as AutoCAD, MicroStation, SmartPlant 3D, and SmartPlant Electrical. Expertise in detailed drawings for lighting, power, earthing, single‑line diagrams, control schematics, distribution panels, cable routing, and related calculations is required, along with the ability to produce cable schedules, perform lighting analyses (e.g., AGI32), and develop material take‑offs and heat‑tracing layouts. The role also demands regular commuting to the Downtown Houston office Monday‑Friday.
