  • Regularly twist, bend, stoop, kneel and crouch to perform duties
  • Understand and follow directions from supervisors as to the required work area
  • Work closely with ground crew to achieve project objectives
  • Maintain cleanliness and good condition of trucks

  • Perform daily inspections and safety checks on equipment; reports defects and repairs
  • Perform minor maintenance to include cleaning, lubricating and refilling equipment
  • Maneuver loader and other heavy equipment safely on public or private roadways
  • Transport aggregate or other materials in a safe and precise manner
  • Performs all duties in conformance to appropriate safety and security standards
  • Operate Loader on public or private roadways, maintaining proper awareness of one’s surroundings
  • Regularly required to use hands and fingers to handle, feel or operate objects, tools or controls, and reach and grasp with hands and arms
  • Move lever to raise and tilt bucket when filled, or to dump material
  • Loading, delivery, and dumping of materials in a safe and timely manner
  • Operate Loader controls to lower and tilt buckets and drive forward to force bucket into the bulk material
  • Regularly push/pull objects
  • Check fluid levels, maintain tires pressures and change implements or attachments
  • Ensure a sound understanding of the issues involving ground disturbance

  • Constant physical effort, including extended sitting for at least 8 hour shift
  • Able to listen, follow directions, and have a willingness to continue to enhance skills
  • Safe driving abilities and strict adherence to safety requirements and procedures
  • One (1) year experience working as heavy equipment operator
  • Must have reliable transportation, and ability to travel to assigned worksites
  • Display a professional and courteous attitude to co-workers, supervisors, and the general public
  • Excellent hand, eye and foot coordination
  • Regularly reach above shoulder level
  • One (1) year experience operating a loader
  • Ability to work nights and weekends when necessary
  • Knowledge of heavy equipment used in excavation, backfilling, and loading operations, their capacities and physical limitations, and issues involved in ground disturbance
  • Able to hear and respond to oral instructions in a noisy environment
  • Must be physically able to repetitively lift, push, pull and/or carry at least 25 pounds occasionally, and sometimes heavier weight
  • Agility, balance, and manual dexterity, as well as arm-hand steadiness
  • Active Driver’s license
  • Good vision, depth perception, peripheral vision and the ability to adjust focus
  • Effective communications with jobsite supervisor and co-workers
  • High School diploma or general education degree (GED)
  • Intermittent walking and standing on a construction site
  • General knowledge of road construction processes
