  • Working closely with the estimating team and design coordinator to ensure accurate pricing, documentation, and project tracking.
  • Facilitating selections and design concept delivery for builder colour board selections.
  • Documenting client selections, approvals, and changes in design software, including cutlines, redlines, detail drawings, cabinet drawings, and other supporting materials for builder and construction teams.
  • Managing spec home selections, ensuring product choices align with builder standards, community guidelines, and project timelines.
  • Conducting client design consultations, providing professional guidance on finishes, fixtures, and upgrades.
  • Developing and presenting curated design packages that balance aesthetics, functionality, and budget for both builder brands and individual clients.
  • Maintaining customer first focus and delivering exceptional, personalized client experience.
  • Building strong partnerships with builders, vendors, internal teams, and colleagues.
  • Addressing client inquiries or concerns in a professional and timely manner, including conducting site visits to clarify installation or product issues.
  • Ensuring accuracy, efficiency, and accountability in all processes.
  • Staying current on design trends and product knowledge to ensure selections align with customer preferences, lifestyles, and budgets.
  • Creating trusting and successful working relationships.
  • Taking responsibility for the outcomes of decisions and actions.
  • Submitting quotation requests to trade partners, liaising with the estimating team for custom price requests, and communicating outcomes to clients.
  • Maintaining creativity, innovation, and high design standards.
  • Representing Design Q at builder launches, studio tours, and client-focused events, supporting the studio’s brand and reputation.
  • Staying informed on design trends, product innovations, and client expectations.
  • Maintaining and updating an accurate database for client selections.

  • Ability to manage multiple projects and builder programs simultaneously.
  • Minimum 3 years of industry experience.
  • Organized, detail-oriented, adaptable.
  • Post-secondary education in Interior Design or related field.
  • A creative problem solver; you think outside the box for solutions without fear of failure.
  • Remaining updated on builder specifications and being familiar with builder show homes.
  • Satisfactory verification of criminal record check.
  • A strong communicator; you clearly express your thoughts in conversation and in written communication.
  • Strong knowledge of finishes, fixtures, residential construction materials, and design trends.
  • Proficient using office equipment and Microsoft Office programs (Outlook, Word, Access, Teams, SharePoint and PowerPoint) and related software programs.
  • Previous homebuilding studio experiences an asset.
  • Excellent service oriented; you handle relations with customers, internal and external parties with tact and diplomacy.
