This position plays a critical role in ensuring the organization’s compliance with North American Electric Reliability Corporation (NERC) standards. The Senior NERC Compliance Analyst will support the reliability operations and planning standards (693), oversee compliance monitoring, and manage internal controls and evaluations. A core focus of this role is on internal spot checks, self-assessments, and supporting timely and accurate regulatory reporting. The successful candidate will work cross-functionally to ensure alignment with all applicable compliance requirements and to strengthen the company’s overall culture of reliability and accountability.

  • Work closely with technical subject matter experts to identify potential compliance issues and support mitigation strategies.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives in the compliance program.
  • Assist with procedure development, training, and awareness initiatives to strengthen organizational compliance.
  • Perform evaluations of compliance documentation related to areas such as facility ratings, protection system maintenance, real-time operations, and interconnection requirements.
  • Lead the preparation and submission of documentation for spot checks and audits, ensuring deadlines are met.
  • Manage the collection and organization of compliance evidence and reporting for internal self-audits and external regulatory reviews.
  • Represent the organization at relevant compliance meetings, workshops, and regulatory sessions.
  • Support the Director of NERC Compliance in driving a strong culture of reliability and regulatory adherence.
  • The role may involve occasional travel for workshops, audits, or stakeholder engagement.
  • Maintain comprehensive understanding of NERC standards, internal controls, and compliance processes.
  • Coordinate and manage self-reports, mitigation activities, and responses to regulatory entities.

  • Highly organized and able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Solid understanding of electrical generation and transmission systems.
  • At least 3 years of experience working with NERC Compliance Monitoring and Enforcement Program and related reliability standards.
  • Intermediate to advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office and project management tools.
  • Minimum 5 years of regulatory experience in the electric utility industry.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills, with the ability to work effectively with regulators, auditors, and internal stakeholders.
