Senior Estimator

Description

• Ensure estimate team adheres to company estimating practices, techniques, processes, and procedures.
• Provide technical guidance to Estimators and Associate Estimators.
• Deliver quality‑controlled estimates for assigned projects and programs.
• Define project scope using a top‑down work breakdown structure and prepare material takeoffs from design documents.
• Develop detailed resource costs, applying burdens, indirect costs, fees, taxes, contract conditions, and expected margins to produce probable project cost.
• Create a Basis of Estimate (BOE) narrative outlining methodology, scope, pricing, escalation, assumptions, and exclusions.
• Review estimates from other service providers for compliance, completeness, accuracy, and best‑practice adherence.
• Analyze contractual documents and modifications to assess scope changes, cost and schedule impacts, and provide written recommendations.
• Prepare task and subtask estimates, including resource rates and unit costs; perform parametric order‑of‑magnitude estimates when detailed estimates are not feasible.
• Define scope and quantification for vendors/subcontractors to obtain competitive pricing for materials, equipment, and services.
• Accumulate and maintain historical cost data in the estimating database, considering location, site conditions, and contract terms.
• Provide training and guidance to Estimators and Associate Estimators on cost‑estimate preparation using required software and tools.
• Develop and deliver client presentations in appropriate media as required.

Qualifications include a bachelor’s degree in engineering, construction management or a related field (or equivalent experience) and at least eight years of estimating experience in the engineering and construction industry. Candidates must be proficient with estimating database software and familiar with project controls tools such as MS Office, Primavera, Estimate/Schedule Transfer, Contract Manager, and DMCS. Strong written and verbal communication skills, and the ability to interpret construction contracts, drawings, and specifications are essential.
