What you would be doing

- Maintain company emergency equipment inventory (first aid kits, extinguishers, etc.).
- Conduct site inspections and audits (including night/weekend visits).
- Review incident/inspection reports and ensure corrective actions are implemented.
- Support WSIB claims management and return-to-work initiatives.
- Facilitate orientation, onboarding, and ongoing H&S training.
- Stay current with emerging trends and apply them to workplace practices.
- Report writing and documentation.
- Prepare health, safety, and environmental reports.
- Contribute to continuous improvement of the HSE program and support accreditations (e.g., COR, ISO 45001).
- Lead or participate in Joint Health & Safety Committee (JHSC) meetings.
- Lead investigations and drive corrective actions to resolution.
- Interaction with employees, managers, and external stakeholders.
- Conduct or support investigations of safety incidents/issues.
- Traverse rough/uneven terrain.
- Attend occasional nighttime and weekend site visits.
- Engage in industry associations/benchmarking to stay current with best practices.
- Advise and coach managers/supervisors on H&S compliance and best practices.
- Influence and foster a positive safety culture across diverse teams.
- Engage confidently with employees, management, and external stakeholders.
- Develop, implement, and maintain safe work practices, job hazard analyses, and safety documentation.

- Analytical thinking for hazard identification and incident review.
- Exposure to outdoor weather conditions.
- General safety management systems and best practices in construction/industrial environments.
- COR (Certification of Recognition) support experience (asset).
- COR (Certification of Recognition) and ISO 45001 standards.
- Ability to access and work on construction sites in all weather conditions.
- Degree or diploma in Occupational Health & Safety, HSE Management, Safety Engineering, or related discipline (preferred).
- Valid driver’s license with a satisfactory driving record.
- WHMIS, fall protection, traffic control, PPE, machine guarding, cranes/lifting devices, first aid, fire protection, emergency response, noise standards.
- Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint).
- ISO 45001 certification support experience (asset).
- Office-based tasks (reporting, documentation, training prep) balanced with fieldwork.
- CRSP (Canadian Registered Safety Professional), NCSO (National Construction Safety Officer), or equivalent (asset).
- Strong communication and presentation skills.
- Work independently and proactively in a fast-paced environment.
- 3-5 years of progressive experience in Occupational Health & Safety, ideally in construction.
- Coaching and training delivery.
