As our North American Tax Manager, you'll lead a team that contributes to lasting changes that shape our cities and communities. It's meaningful, challenging and exciting work.

You'll join an innovative team, and be responsible for managing the tax affairs of all transactions related to Transurban's North American business.

  • Develop technical tax papers such as memorandums and opinions, and contribute to governance and process improvements.
  • Collaborate with Joint Venture partners and internal stakeholders to meet tax obligations under operating agreements and support broader business needs.
  • Draft structure plans and documentation to support implementation of approved projects and ensure tax compliance.
  • Manage day-to-day tax compliance and reporting, with responsibility for the preparation and filing of returns, documentation, and coordination with Finance and external advisers.
  • Provide leadership to the North American tax team, fostering a high-performing and inclusive culture.
  • Research and advise on tax treatment for toll road assets and monitor changes in U.S. and Canadian tax legislation.
  • Lead tax analysis for business development activities and transactions, including coordination with external advisers and internal teams to advise the business and Senior Management.

We are open to considering candidates who either reside in the DMV (DC, Maryland, Virginia) area, are within a reasonable commuting distance to Tysons Corner and Alexandria, VA and/or are willing to relocate at their own expense. Candidates who reside in the DMV area will be prioritized.

This position requires being onsite at our Tysons office 3 days a week.

  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) with 5+ years of corporate tax experience.
  • Demonstrated experience with tax compliance software, Workday, or debt/financing concepts, preferred.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with demonstrated experience presenting on multiple complex tax matters to non-tax personnel.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet tight deadlines in a collaborative, team-oriented environment.
  • Strong technical knowledge of Accounting Standards Codification (ASC) 740 (Accounting for Income Taxes) and experience adhering to compliance of it in a corporate setting.
  • Proven problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and initiative in identifying process improvements.
