The CISO owns the strategy, architecture, and execution of Montrose’s enterprise security program and leads a cross‑functional security team covering Governance, Risk & Compliance, Security Operations, and Identity & Access Management. This leader partners with Legal, Infrastructure, Applications, and Product Engineering to deliver a comprehensive, scalable, and audit‑ready security posture, embedding security into every layer of the technology stack and business processes.
As CISO, you will transform the security function from a reactive, compliance‑driven role into a proactive, business‑enabling force. You will have executive support to build a modern, risk‑based security culture that protects the organization while empowering innovation, directly impacting Montrose’s ability to win business, meet regulatory demands, and fulfill its mission.
- Own end‑to‑end enterprise security strategy, roadmap, and reference architectures aligned to NIST 800‑171, ISO 27001, NIST CSF, and CIS Controls.
- Build and maintain a CMMC Level 2 compliant enclave, align governance to regulatory frameworks, and lead incident readiness and response.
- Establish a complete asset inventory, validate tool coverage, segment lab networks, and enable secure modern software development with engineering teams.
- Publish clear security policies, conduct annual reviews and training, and manage guest/external data sharing in Microsoft 365.
- Lead and grow a high‑performing security organization across GRC, SecOps, and IAM, serving as a trusted partner to executives.

Success in the first 9‑12 months is measured by a well‑governed enterprise security architecture, a complete and validated asset inventory, operational continuous monitoring, CMMC readiness, and the initiation of a SOC 2/ISO 27001 certification plan. Security policies will be published, enforced, and aligned to best practices, and security will be embedded in engineering workflows and product delivery.
- 10+ years leading enterprise security programs and teams with direct CIO reporting.
- Proven success aligning programs to NIST 800‑171, ISO 27001, NIST CSF, and CIS Controls, and achieving compliance.
- Experience operationalizing policy lifecycle management, incident response, and audit readiness.
- Strong ability to collaborate with Legal, Infrastructure, Applications, and engineering teams.
- Effective communication with executives, technical teams, and business leaders; flexible, resilient, and curious mindset.
- Preferred certifications: CISSP, CISM; experience with SOC 2/ISO 27001 audits and CMMC enclaves.
