  • Participate in on-call rotation and incident response
  • Manage backups, disaster recovery plans, and business continuity strategies
  • Troubleshoot network connectivity problems and issues
  • Monitor backup jobs daily to verify successful completion and troubleshoot any failures or anomalies.
  • Maintain documentation for systems, processes, and procedures
  • Design implement and manage the organization's computer systems and networks
  • Implement and enforce security policies and procedures
  • Ensure secure environment by proactively planning and patching/upgrading services, servers, network devices
  • Ensure data integrity, security, and accessibility across various storage platforms
  • Ensure system availability, performance, and scalability through proactive monitoring and tuning
  • Configure hardware and implement security measures.
  • Document network configurations and changes
  • Manage Storage
  • Manage backup infrastructure, including software Veeam, Commvault (mandatory) and hardware (e.g., tape libraries, NAS/SAN).
  • Monitor and maintain IT infrastructure, including servers, networks, and cloud environments
  • Deploying and managing virtual machines (VMs) and virtual desktops across the virtualized environment.
  • Troubleshoot Level 3 and resolve system and network issues in a timely manner
  • Monitoring and optimizing the performance of virtualized resources, including CPU, memory, and storage.
  • Perform regular restore tests to validate backup reliability and ensure compliance with recovery time objectives (RTO) and recovery point objectives (RPO)
  • Perform network upgrades and maintenance
  • Collaborate with Service Desk, Application and Cyber Security Teams
  • Automate operational processes using scripting and configuration management tools

HITACHI RAIL is looking for an enthusiastic self-motivated IT Operations Engineer who thrives in a fast-paced environment. The successful candidate is comfortable performing a wide range of tasks from administrative to strategic. The position is based in Pittsburgh, PA.

Minimum of 5 years of experience in Networking/Infrastructure Engineering

English Proficiency

  • Fortinet Certification
  • VMWare Certification
  • Strong knowledge in SAN, NAS and related environment (e.g., Fiber Channel, iSCSI)
  • MFA, 2FA, OKTA
  • Cisco products. Catalyst, Nexus, Enterprise Wireless, ISE, Mobility Express.
  • Experience with virtualization technologies like VMWare (mandatory), Hyper-V, Nutanix, KVM, proxmox…
  • Optional: AIX, vIOS
  • Dell, Hpe, IBM
  • Cisco CCNA Certification
  • Operating Systems (Windows, Linux RedHat)
  • Fortinet products e.g. FortiManager, FortiWeb and FortiAnalyzer.
  • Strong understanding of networking concepts and protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, WAN/LAN, VLANS, SDWAN, MPLS, BGP, SSL and IPsec VPN, Core Switching and Routing, etc.)
