This colleague independently performs a variety of assignments involving the application of standard mechanical design engineering techniques for a medium project or significant segments of a larger project. The incumbent must be capable of exercising independent judgment in evaluating, selecting, and applying standard design engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria to make minor design adaptations and modifications. Provides leadership for 2 to 3 Design Engineer / Designer I & II Colleagues in terms of both Technical Career Development as well as Project Specific direction and oversight.
This position normally requires a 4-year engineering degree from an ABET-accredited program and typically 7+ years of related experience (or equivalent working knowledge/experience/advanced degree in engineering) related to mechanical engineering systems in the Built Environment. This includes considerable experience in utilizing various computer software packages and automated mechanical engineering and design equipment. A top candidate for this position should be in possession of a Professional Engineering (PE) Registration and provides direct oversight and responsible charge over projects for which they are involved.
