- Interview engineers, software developers, and product teams to extract and document qualifying research efforts.
- Monitor changes in federal and state R&D tax regulations and provide guidance on evolving compliance requirements.
- Financial Analysis and Tax Credit Calculation
- Support development of internal procedures for tracking R&D activities, time allocation, and cost reporting.
- Collect, organize, and analyze Qualified Research Expenses (QREs), including wages, supply costs, and contractor services.
- Prepare project narratives and technical documentation that support R&D credit claims.
- Recommend improvements to maximize future R&D claims and reduce administrative burden.
- Analyze technical projects and activities to determine eligibility under IRC Section 41 and Section 174.
- Assist in preparing and submitting IRS Form 6765 and corresponding state forms.
- Maintain audit-ready documentation and assist in responding to IRS or state audits or inquiries.
- Ensure accurate categorization of costs and traceability of data to support IRS compliance.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with engineering, product development, accounting, and external tax advisors.
