The role involves managing bridge inspection, analysis, rehabilitation, and design projects for private and public sector clients from planning through detailed design and construction. Responsibilities include producing engineering deliverables, defining project scope, preparing budgets and schedules, and providing technical direction. The engineer will prepare calculations, models, drawings, specifications, cost estimates, technical reports and procurement documents, and will review contractor submissions during construction. Coordination with other engineering disciplines, client interaction, site inspections, and leading inspection teams are also required.
The position requires overseeing project teams, controlling budgets and schedules, ensuring quality of deliverables, and handling financial reporting. The engineer will mentor junior staff, guide CAD designers and less‑experienced engineers, and ensure compliance with all applicable codes and regulations while traveling locally for site visits and client meetings.
The firm is seeking an experienced Intermediate Bridge Engineer to join its Bridges and Tunnels team in Ottawa, Ontario. The team delivers major bridge and structure rehabilitation and design projects across the National Capital Area, Eastern Canada, and supports other Parsons offices throughout Canada and the United States.
A four‑year civil or structural engineering degree and five or more years of progressive bridge engineering experience are required. Candidates must have experience in inspection, analysis, load‑rating, design, and construction, and be licensed or eligible for registration as a Professional Engineer in Ontario. Proficiency in the Canadian Highway Bridge Design Code (CSA S6), MTO manuals, 3D modelling and analysis software, and strong communication and problem‑solving skills are essential. A valid driver’s licence is also required.
