Senior Cost Controller

We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Senior Cost Controller to join our Brisbane team to support the successful delivery of our multi-discipline, Greenfield and Brownfield projects. This role will see you collaborating closely with our project and finance teams, to ensure effective cost management throughout the life of all our client projects.

• Management of project creation and set up in the cost management system.
• Management of project commercial activities including generation of prebills, billing maintenance and invoice generation to ensure correct cost allocation over tasks and budgets.
• Timesheet administration support to ensure accurately reported project labour costs.
• Review contracts to ensure adherence to financial / commercial terms and conditions.
• Control cost activities including forecast to complete / forecast at completion analysis, trending, change management, accruals, cost variance analysis, commitment reviews, earned value and progress measurement to support the delivery of multiple projects at various stages throughout the project lifecycle, ranging from engineering design to full EPCM services.
• Identifying variances and potential cost overruns and recommend corrective action when necessary.
• Support the develop of project specific deliverables, which include comprehensive project service, progress reporting, risk management and capital cost estimates.
• Ensure compliance with company policies, regulatory requirements, and industry standards.
• Preparation of project reports covering cost, earned value and variance analysis to agreed project reporting cycles.
• Review and evaluate contractor and supplier invoices, ensuring accuracy and compliance with project budgets.
• Analyse cost data and trends to identify areas for cost-saving opportunities and efficiency enhancements.
• Training, developing, and mentoring less experienced project controls team members.
• Track and analyse project costs, including expenditures, budgets, and forecasts, to ensure alignment with project objectives and financial targets.
• Monitor expenditure and report project costs against control budgets to ensure purchase order alignment.

• Excellent communication and relationship-building skills, with the capability of engaging and influencing stakeholders at all organisational levels.
• Tertiary qualification in Finance, Accounting, Engineering or related field is desirable.
• Strong commercial background and understanding to support the management of project finances ensuring projects are delivered to the target profit.
• Proven project delivery experience delivering multiple projects of various size and complexity in both brownfield and greenfield delivery environment is favourable.
• Excellent analytical and numerical skills with attention to detail and the ability to interpret complex data and identify trends.
• Strong understanding of project management principles, cost accounting principles, and financial analysis techniques.
• Sound knowledge of scheduling and cost controls systems with experience in Microsoft Dynamics 365 and PowerBI being favourable.
• Self-motivated and decisive, adaptable to change and competing demands.
• 8+ years of cost control experience in the successful delivery of projects across multiple clients and stakeholders, in the mining, minerals processing, construction or similar heavy industries.
• Strong Microsoft Office Suit software skills with advanced excel capability.
• Knowledge of cost and scheduled Quantitative and Qualitative Risk Analysis process
