Prepares conceptual studies, designs, reports, or proposals.
Evaluates, selects, and applies standard mechanical engineering methods, techniques, procedures, and criteria to support engineering design decisions.
Selects components and equipment based on analysis of specifications and reliability.
Prepare specifications and data sheets for unique, requirement driven equipment, perform as the technical representative for the associated purchase order or subcontract, review vendor submittals, and manage the selected supplier’s technical performance.
Mentors and assists more junior mechanical team members.
Prepares mechanical engineering reports for clients as required.
Designs, develops, modifies, and evaluates mechanical components and processes utilizing relevant Engineering Department Procedures (EDPs), design standards and guides, and Bechtel Standard Application Programs (BSAPs).
Provides technical assistance to other mechanical personnel and interacts with project functions, the customer, and regulatory agency personnel in the resolution of complex regulatory issues and industry codes and standards.
Prepare and check design and procurement documents including but not limited to P&IDs, supporting calculations, data sheets, engineering specifications, and material requisitions.
Assists project and construction management in identifying and complying with project mechanical requirements and in addressing issues as they arise during project execution.
Coordinates mechanical engineering efforts in assigned areas with specialty groups, engineering disciplines, the client, vendor, contractors, construction and other functional groups.
Completes mechanical documentation and procedures for installation and maintenance.

Experience in Piping and Instrument Diagram (P&ID) development, chilled water system design, pipe sizing calculations, and equipment specification and procurement development for waste processing, nuclear, refinery, power, or chemical process facilities.
Experience with developing custom equipment packages, including skid mounted systems and specialty items, such as security doors.
Experience working on DOD government projects and with the Unified Facilities Criteria (UFCs).
Must be able to complete and pass a pre-employment drug and background check, which includes verification of employment and education.
Must have completed a minimum of 4 years of active-duty military service in the United States Armed Forces, with an honorable discharge.
Requires a bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) in Mechanical (or related) Engineering and a minimum of 5 years of relevant professional work experience.
Possess active security clearance or the ability to obtain security clearance.
Must be a U.S. Citizen.
Must be able to complete and pass a pre-employment drug screen, physical (if located at the construction site), and background check which includes verification of employment and education.
U.S. Professional Engineering License in Mechanical Engineering (or ability to obtain within 12 months).
Experience in working with procedures meeting quality assurance programs such as ASME NQA-1, or AS9100D.
