

Provides construction, technical IT/cyber, facilities, and education services for federal agencies worldwide.
The incumbent is responsible for operating, maintaining, repairing, and overhauling US Navy and Coast Guard communications and patching equipment, diagnosing faults, and delivering expert alignment and repair of AN/URT‑23 variants and related systems. The role requires strong customer‑service skills to interact directly with prime customers and industry partners, and the ability to support NIWC foreign‑military‑sales initiatives both within the continental United States and internationally. Travel to CONUS/OCONUS sites and shipboard deployments may be required, and the employee must adhere to Navy and NIWC protocols while working safely in shipyards, bases, and subcontractor facilities.
The Subject Matter Expert 1 (HF/UHF) provides advanced technical knowledge and onsite depot‑level support for legacy and other communication equipment as defined by the Naval Information Warfare Center (NIWC). The role includes system operation, configuration, preventative maintenance, overhaul, repair, and assistance with configuration management, as well as shipboard technical support when required. This position is based onsite/in‑office with occasional travel.
Candidates must hold a SECRET security clearance, be U.S. citizens, possess a high‑school diploma, a valid driver’s license, and at least five years of experience with Navy or Coast Guard communications systems, including shipboard communication center work. They must be willing to travel, work extended hours, and pass background and drug screenings. Preferred qualifications include prior military A‑ or C‑school training, specialized HF/UHF technical training, and familiarity with a range of Navy communication hardware such as AN/URT‑23, AN/USQ‑155 TVS, SA‑2112 BAS & SAS, and related antenna and coupler systems.
The position involves working outdoors, in laboratories, and onboard ships worldwide, requiring tolerance of heat, cold, low‑light conditions, and shipyard‑type hazards. Physical demands include lifting up to 40 lb, carrying tools and test equipment, and moving freely on ships and shore sites. The role may require responding to emergent requirements that involve travel or extended work hours.
