  • Monitor industry trends and regulatory changes that may impact the availability or cost of materials, proactively recommending changes to procurement strategies as needed.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with both production and non-production teams to ensure that materials and production supplies are provided in a timely manner. Provide recommendations to internal teams, considering business needs and supplier abilities, to determine the next steps needed to acquire essential commodities.
  • Act as a mentor for Buyers, setting an example of how the procurement process should be executed and providing training for certain product lines and commodities.
  • Understand and comply with all applicable Company policies and rules.
  • Maintain on-hand inventories of parts and materials for production. Develop and implement plans to reduce inventory levels while meeting production demands.
  • Participate in A3 problem-solving activities as needed.
  • Act as the primary point of contact with suppliers, working closely with them to address timing and quality issues and tracking their performance. Negotiate non-pricing-related aspects of agreements, such as minimum quantities and stocking agreements. Works with the Global Sourcing team to identify new suppliers and coordinates details of new purchase process setups with them.
  • Tracks purchases, monitor vendor quality, and maintain records of supplier performance information and inforomation.
  • Dynamically evaluate purchase recommendations and analyze cost and lead time to determine the appropriate supplier to fill the need. Makes adjustments to decisions based on supplier performance and constantly changing business needs. Complete second-level reviews for items ordered by the Production Buyers and escalate high-priority items as needed.
  • Maintain regular and punctual attendance.
  • Attend in-person or virtual meetings as requested or required.
  • Analyze production scheduling data and information from suppliers to track key metrics, such as expense saving, past dues, dual sourcing, and inventory reductions. Report out on findings and make recommendations on potential process or supplier changes.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Familiarity with relevant industry regulations, compliance standards, and ethical sourcing practices.
  • Understand a specific set of moderately complex commodities required for certain production lines and work with suppliers that have complex purchasing processes to acquire the needed materials in a timely and cost-efficient manner.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Communicate effectively and respectfully with others.
  • In-depth understanding of procurement processes, including requisitioning, purchasing, and supplier management.
  • Demonstrated experience working in the electrical manufacturing industry.
  • Highly proficient in Microsoft Office applications, including Excel (Advanced), Teams, Outlook, PowerPoint, etc.
  • Good negotiation skills with the ability to understand business priorities and pursue beneficial outcomes in discussions with suppliers.
  • 5+ years of demonstrated experience working in purchasing or a related role in the manufacturing industry.
  • Knowledge of supply chain management principles, including inventory management, demand forecasting, and logistics.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to complete activities with accuracy.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders to achieve common goals.
  • Proficient in using Oracle ERP for procurement functions. Must also have some experience working with supplier management platforms and data analytics tools. Must have specific experience with Oracle ERP software.
  • Strong organizational and multitasking skills with the ability to coordinate and prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Rounded communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with internal departments and external vendors.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to compile data and generate meaningful reports.
