Key responsibilities include delivering verbal and written weather briefings, producing multiple daily forecasts for various industry sectors, providing on‑demand consultation via phone, email or chat, and continuously nowcasting evolving conditions. The incumbent also issues severe‑weather alerts, conducts post‑event analysis, and prepares technical reports such as case studies, seasonal and hurricane outlooks.
The Weather Operations Team at WSP, Canada’s leading provider of weather and ocean forecasting services, is seeking professionals to deliver 24/7 meteorological and oceanographic services across North America. The role focuses on weather analysis, forecasting and communication for some of the continent’s most extreme regions.
Candidates must hold a Bachelor of Science in Meteorology or Atmospheric Science from a WMO‑compliant program, be able to work rotating day/night shifts, weekends and holidays, and demonstrate strong communication, time‑management and problem‑solving skills under pressure. A growth‑mindset, commitment to diversity and inclusion, and the ability to work collaboratively are essential.
Additional assets include bilingual fluency in French and English, experience with GIS, coding (Python, SQL, VBA), data‑analytics tools (Power BI, Tableau) or AI, and previous operational forecasting experience or willingness to work offshore on platforms and ships.
