The role manages daily operations of non‑woven production lines, ensuring a safe environment, high‑quality output, and achievement of key performance metrics. Core processes include converting, slitting, and packaging equipment. The operator must continuously monitor, adjust, and troubleshoot equipment to maintain productivity and quality.
- Perform administrative tasks, inventory control, product inspection, and safety/housekeeping checks.
- Monitor the Sontara process using VXL, Mapex, NDC Scanner, and Milo Scanner, adjusting equipment as needed.
- Train new and less experienced operators.
- Carry out minor mechanical repairs and replace dirty or contaminated belt washer and consolidator jets.
- Troubleshoot processes and equipment, conduct patrols, respond to system alarms, and follow standard operating conditions.
- Safely start up and shut down each line phase, ensuring proper lockout/tagout before maintenance.
- Monitor and adjust systems in fiber prep, penthouse, airlay, washer, windup, and wrapper areas per SOC.
- Handle emergency situations by following procedures to maintain or restart operations safely.
- Operate light industrial machinery such as fork trucks, AGVs, and tuggers for material transport.
- Control the flow of fiber, steam, or water in the Sontara process, including diverting, starting, or shutting down.
- Perform preventative maintenance, cleaning or replacing screens, jets, and filters to meet quality standards.
- Adjust process variables and settings, like core alignment, according to SOC or product specifications.
- Manage water treatment and distribution by operating valves, pumps, screw press, and washer sumps, and mixing chemical additives.

Candidates need a high school diploma or GED, with up to three months of related experience or training. They must read and interpret safety and operating documents, write routine reports, perform basic arithmetic, and be proficient with computer systems such as SPFA, Microsoft Office, and various scanners. The position requires a 12‑hour rotating schedule, physical stamina for lifting and working in hot or cold conditions, and the ability to operate light industrial machinery.
