The Pipefitter Chargehand is required to deliver a high quality, consistent and competent Pipefitting Chargehand service including making up sections of high and / or low pressure piping systems are ready for installation in accordance with Project / Company requirements, standards and procedures. To support overall delivery of company goals and schedule and to ensure that the entire work scope is completed in a safe manner ensuring no detrimental impact to personnel, fabric or environment.

  • Provide support to other trades/disciplines where required, or form part of an integrated multi-discipline team
  • Form piping from sheet metal
  • Read, understand and implement all applicable company / project policies, working practices and procedures, ensuring at all times that the scope is completed in accordance with company procedures, and to the highest standard of safety
  • Attend and participate positively in toolbox talks
  • To complete all Pipefitting work in accordance with company procedures and applicable standards
  • Operate overhead cranes including basic slinging in a safe manner
  • Responsible for the quality and quantity of work undertaken by construction personnel
  • Ensure unsafe activities are challenged
  • Complete all work scope in accordance with applicable workpack / job card instructions, associated procedures and drawings / sketches
  • Demonstrate and promote PD&MS values and lead by example
  • Carry out Firewatch / Stand By duties
  • Responsible for ensuring professional development is maintained and identified competency requirements are undertaken in a timely manner
  • Operate trade required machinery including relevant workshops/site equipment associated with job requirements
  • Prepare and position pipework and flanges for subsequent welding, alignment orientation, gaps, spacing, straightness whilst welding and arc welding
  • Select length of stainless steel, steel alloy, iron, copper, aluminium or plastic piping and to cut it to the required size with hacksaw, pipe cutter or machine
  • Check pipe preparations, tack welded joints, alignment, straightness and dimensional accuracy
  • Installation of small bore tubing
  • Undertake appropriate Risk Assessments (RA) in order to complete work scope in a safe and controlled manner
  • Demonstrate and promote PD&MS QHSE principles and lead by example
  • Adhere to all safety requirements including safety checks of tools and equipment
  • Provide timely feedback to supervisor of ongoing status or completion of the task
  • Instruct construction personnel in the performance of their work
  • Bend piping by machine or heat with blow lamp and bend by hand
  • Attend and participate positively in training sessions and safety sessions
  • Attend meetings as and when required
  • Join metal piping by soldering or thread cutting and screwing and plastic piping by cementing or fusing by hot air welding
  • Install prefabricated sections on site

This role is required to support an upcoming TAR project at our clients site in Grangemouth. 3-6 months work available initially via a NAECI agreement. Candidates must have a valid site safety passport for this role.

  • Abrasive Wheels Awareness Training (Preferably)
  • CCNSG Safety Passport
  • Compliance with quality assurance, health and safety and environmental policies
  • Valid Driving License
  • KT-PF (applicable to Pipefitters)
  • Demonstrable experience in conducting Audits and Investigations including Permit to Work
  • Mechanical Joint Integrity Certificate - MJI18 & MJI19 (Preferably)
  • Adherence to the company integrated management system
  • Overhead Pendant Crane Operation (Preferably)
  • Time Served / Modern Apprenticeship approved by City & Guilds or NVQ/SVQ Level 3, and / or relevant and recognised technical qualification approved by an appropriate awarding body
  • Adherence to the requirements of the best practice standards recommendations and processes in the undertaking of duties, in particular, risk assessment and control, reliability and failure prevention necessary to ensure the safe design, provision and use of tools, equipment and systems
  • ECITB approved SBT 01, 02 & 03 (Installation) & 04 (Testing)
  • Previous experience in a similar role
  • Use of Oxy / fuel hand burning / heating / cutting equipment
  • Understanding of relevant Oil & Gas Industry Codes and Standards relevant to role
  • Relevant Completions Certificate e.g. GoC/Orbit etc. (Preferably)
  • Mechanical Joint Integrity Certificate- MJI10
  • Reasonable written and spoken English
  • Experience in managing and developing others
