The position will close on 01-19-2026. This entry-level engineering role reports to an assigned supervisor and involves performing engineering work and projects using technical knowledge in a safe, effective, efficient, and economical manner.
You will apply entry-level engineering theory to solve clearly defined problems and support higher-level engineers on more complex tasks. The role involves coordinating routine engineering activities, contributing to project schedules, cost estimates, and using planning tools such as CPM and PERT. You will perform analysis of technical issues, develop solutions, and prepare reports and technical papers. Effective verbal and written communication, teamwork, and professional networking are expected, as is the ability to make routine decisions under guidance. You will also apply relevant standards, codes, regulations, and economic analysis techniques while considering environmental and customer impacts.
Candidates must hold a Bachelor’s degree in engineering from an ABET-accredited program, or a non-ABET bachelor’s combined with a master’s or PhD from an ABET-accredited institution. Passing the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam is encouraged and preferred as preparation for future Professional Engineer licensure. New graduates are the primary target for this entry-level position.
The position is based onsite in Abilene, Texas, and is classified under Compensation Grade SP20-005 with a salary range of $74,551 to $109,543. The job is sedentary, requiring occasional exertion of up to 10 pounds and brief periods of walking or standing. Physical demands conform to a sedentary work level as defined by the employer.
