Support maintenance of long-term upgrade/maintenance plan and estimating annual R&M Budget recommendations and providing prioritized annual R&M recommendations.
Perform maintenance and construction tasks as required
Ensure that safety equipment is utilized, and appropriate guidelines are followed for all tasks involving physical risk or hazardous materials
Including mechanical repair of engines, generators, and ships systems.
Handle mooring lines and rigging to launch or dock the boat
Perform minor engineering repairs and engineering rounds as directed
Drive company vehicles as needed
Control lines to moor vessel to wharves, tie up vessel to another vessel, or rig towing lines
Troubleshoot and diagnose marine systems for repairs at sea
Perform vessel maintenance to include scraping, painting, and changing all oil and filters, lubricate machinery and equipment, splices and repairs cables and ropes using hand tools
Prepare boat prior to each trip and demobilize the boat following each trip
Carry out and complete assigned tasks within legal requirements of USCG and other regulatory agencies
Responsible for getting underway, mooring, anchoring, handling lines, ship's ramps, and shore side facilities in all weather conditions
Participate in meetings, trainings, drills, and safety audits as required by USCG & company policy
Keep vessel and equipment maintained by performing a variety of maintenance and cleaning duties
Ensure crew and passengers adhere to safety standards
Provide Engineering-Maintenance Support for all ships systems.
Perform lookout duties while underway - to include watching for other vessels, monitoring traffic conditions and potential unsafe conditions onboard and otherwise
Provides recommendations for repair and organizes/recommends repair contractors as required for repairs beyond capabilities.
Responsible for the safe navigation and operation of the company boat operating in Alaska
Maintain accurate ship logs
Support repair and maintenance cost management within budgeted R&M

Current GDS mandatory training and other required programs provided by GDS
High School diploma or equivalent
Ability to complete pre-employment drug test and participate in random drug and alcohol testing program
Maritime experience required (workboat experience preferred, 50 ton or above)
Must be 19 years of age or older
UCSG Master License currently held or previously held; navigation experience, proof of sea time
Heavy equipment experiences preferred
Medical PIC preferred
Experience Alaska navigation of tides, currents
Ability to lift from floor to waist, push and pull up to 50lbs occasionally up to 12 times per shift
Passport and TWIC card
For large percentage of available work and attentive to communications for job scheduling changes
Previous DSV (Dive Support Vessel) experience preferred
Annual medical physical (if USCG licensed holder, must have USCG physical in addition)
Ability to successfully complete a background check
Ability to work any day of the week both night and day; available for after hour emergency response
Experience operating vessel in dynamic environment
Must be able to withstand the following for up to 12 hours per day in all weather conditions (Sun, Rain, Sleet, and Snow): stand, sit, walk, push, pull, squat, crouch, bend, stoop, crawl, kneel, climb stairs and ladders, repetitive reaching, and repetitive band use
