Description

The Plant Manager position is a full‑time, on‑call role with extended hours, Monday‑Friday schedule, and overtime or performance bonus opportunities. The manager is directly responsible for the safe, productive, day‑to‑day onsite operations of a utility‑scale solar PV plant, including preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair to maximize generation.

Key duties include upholding rigorous safety standards, executing routine preventive maintenance and service on trackers, inverters, transformers, disconnects, and substation equipment, and conducting comprehensive DC and AC testing such as polarity checks, voltage measurements, grounding continuity, and I‑V curve tracing. The manager also maintains schedules, service reports, inspection documentation, spare‑parts inventory, and provides training to technicians. Hazard identification and mitigation are integral to the role.

The role involves field and office work, requiring compliance with safety procedures and use of PPE. Physical demands include standing, walking, stooping, and lifting up to 50 lb for up to 10 hours per day, with occasional travel and on‑call responsibilities during off‑shift hours and weekends.

• Uphold high safety standards in all plant activities.
• Perform routine preventive maintenance, service, and repairs on solar PV equipment (trackers, inverters, transformers, disconnects, substation gear).
• Conduct DC and AC testing, including polarity, voltage, grounding continuity, communication checks, insulation resistance, and I‑V curve tracing.
• Maintain maintenance schedules, service reports, inspection documentation, and spare‑parts inventory.
• Provide training on maintenance and troubleshooting to technicians.
• Identify safety hazards and implement corrective actions.
• Manage company property such as vehicles, tools, meters, and plant stock.

Requirements

Candidates must have at least three years of PV maintenance experience covering DC operations, medium‑voltage AC systems, substation work, and network communications, as well as familiarity with SCADA, DAS, and UPS systems. Required skills include use of testing tools (infrared cameras, drones, I‑V curve tracers, meggers), CMMS platforms, and strong knowledge of the National Electrical Code and electrical schematics. Certifications such as NABCEP Installation Professional, OSHA 10, and a valid driver’s license are required, along with proficiency in MS Office and the ability to work with minimal oversight.

• Minimum 3 years PV maintenance experience with DC operations, medium‑voltage AC systems, and substation operations.
• Experience operating SCADA, DAS, and UPS systems.
• Proficient with testing equipment (infrared cameras, drones, I‑V curve tracers, meggers, ground‑fault detectors).
• Working knowledge of CMMS platforms and the National Electrical Code.
• Ability to read single‑line and three‑line electrical diagrams.
• NABCEP Certified Installation Professional; OSHA 10 General Industry certification; valid driver’s license.
• Proficient in MS Office and able to work independently with minimal oversight.
