Senior Civil Engineer - Data Centres

Description

The Senior Civil Engineer will join the Civil Engineering Business Unit to support data centre projects, ranging from site due‑diligence and master‑planning to detailed design and construction documentation. Working with ground, structural, mechanical, electrical engineers and other specialists in the UK and abroad, the role contributes to AECOM’s capability in the hyperscale and co‑location data‑centre market.

• Provide civil engineering support for data centre projects in line with AECOM standards and regulatory requirements.
• Develop and review civil infrastructure designs and specifications for site development, earthworks, drainage, pavements, access, and utilities.
• Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams including ground, structural, mechanical, electrical engineers, architects, project managers and environmental consultants.
• Mentor junior engineers to strengthen technical capability and delivery excellence within the Data Centres sector.

Requirements

• Degree in Civil Engineering or related discipline.
• Working toward or fully Chartered Engineer (CEng, MICE or equivalent) – desirable.
• Experience delivering civil infrastructure projects, preferably data centres, mission‑critical or large‑scale developments.
• Knowledge of planning, highways, drainage and utility approval processes.
• Experience in multidisciplinary team environments and design coordination.
• Understanding of BIM modelling and collaborative platforms.
