The Highways Regional Director will report to the Highways Scotland and England North District Lead and work closely with regional directors and the Infrastructure Team Lead. Based in Glasgow, the role focuses on expanding the highways pipeline in Scotland and the north of England, positioning AECOM to win and deliver major projects while aligning with market growth opportunities.
As an inclusive leader, the director is expected to champion respect, diversity and inclusion, mentor talent, and build a workforce that reflects a broad range of perspectives. Collaboration across disciplines and with AECOM’s wider network is essential to develop the best solutions for clients.
Ideal candidates will have a strong background in highways and civil infrastructure design and delivery, with an established market presence and existing client relationships in the region. They should be able to inspire teams, lead major project deliveries, and act as a trusted advisor to key national and local infrastructure clients.
The role requires a proven record of meeting or exceeding financial KPIs, winning new business and maintaining client pipelines, especially with Transport Scotland, National Highways and construction contractors. Preferred qualifications include membership of a recognised professional body and a Master’s or Bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline.
AECOM offers a flexible hybrid working model, career development programmes such as AECOM University, technical practice networks, and a suite of wellbeing benefits tailored to individual lifestyles. Employees also enjoy volunteering days, personalised benefits and the opportunity to work on high‑impact, sustainable projects.
