Senior Electrical Engineer

Description

• Oversee design reviews, perform engineering calculations, studies, reports, and field investigations.
• Build confidence in our designs and capabilities with clients.
• Lead moderate to large sized projects, making technical recommendations and decisions on complex issues.
• Help grow the power market and expand LSC’s footprint in the energy sector.
• Provide leadership and guidance to the electrical engineering team, mentoring staff and growing technical expertise in the power discipline.
• Recognize business development opportunities and contribute to proposal writing, cost estimates, and client presentations.
• Communicate and coordinate project activities with project management, customer representatives, and stakeholders.
• Apply electrical engineering software (SKM, ETAP, etc.) for modeling and analysis.
• Develop specifications for procurement, installation, and testing of electrical equipment.
• Partner with clients in Oil & Gas, Renewables, and Distributed Power to deliver innovative solutions.
• Interface with electrical utility providers to design service interconnects.
• Play a leadership role in growing our Power Engineering market.
• Play a key role in strengthening client relationships by serving as a trusted technical partner.
• Manage project scope changes, identify risks, and develop contingency plans.
• Frequently interact with clients, vendors, and contractors to build confidence in LSC’s technical solutions.
• Mentor the next generation of electrical engineers.
• Work with project teams to create design documents and drawings, including power and controls drawings, reports, calculations, and associated documentation.
• Provide leadership and mentorship to our electrical and power engineering team.

Requirements

• Experience with high, medium, and low voltage power systems, protective relay schemes, switchgear, MCCs, drives, and power distribution equipment is desired.
• Industrial electrical control system and/or power system design experience strongly preferred.
• Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in Electrical Engineering.
• Knowledge of electrical area classification (hazardous areas).
• Experience with design of control systems, PLCs, SCADA, instrumentation, and network architectures preferred.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license required.
• Familiarity with codes and standards (NEC, NFPA 70E, API, AGA).
• Collaborative mindset, with a willingness to mentor and learn.
• Highly organized, with the ability to prioritize workload for yourself and others.
• Substation design experience a plus.
• 10+ years of relevant electrical engineering experience.
• Ability to travel (approx. 10%) for field information gathering and client meetings.
• Proficiency with SKM, ETAP, or other electrical analysis software.
• Strong communication, presentation, and follow-up skills.
• Direct experience with industrial facilities and energy industry projects (Oil & Gas, Renewables, Distributed Power).
• Proven technical leadership with experience mentoring teams.
• Ability to build client confidence through technical expertise and relationship-building.
