The Operations Manager will serve as client, program, and people manager for the US Data Center commissioning portfolio. The role requires a highly organized, goal-oriented professional with senior-engineer technical acumen and specialized expertise in data centers and mission-critical facilities. The manager will work closely with direct reports to ensure project performance, revenue accrual, invoicing, and staff training goals are achieved, and will collaborate with leadership on workload planning and hiring needs.
Key responsibilities include planning and managing project schedules and budgets, conceptualizing designs, and overseeing all project aspects while reviewing interdisciplinary team work. The manager will train staff on complex tasks, maintain client relationships through regular communication and status reporting, and handle billing and invoicing. Additional duties involve independent project execution, contributing to hiring processes, conducting performance reviews, driving business development, preparing proposals and contracts, and performing other assigned tasks.
- Plan and manage project schedules and budgets, ensuring on-time, on-budget delivery while conceptualizing designs and overseeing interdisciplinary work.
- Self-perform and train staff on complex tasks, new systems, and new services.
- Maintain positive client relationships and communicate project status through regular verbal and written updates; review all correspondence before issuance.
- Prepare accurate monthly or more frequent billings and submit invoices to accounting promptly.
- Contribute to hiring requisitions, participate in interviews, review and approve offer criteria, and support onboarding.
- Manage performance reviews for direct reports, providing feedback and recommending compensation adjustments.
- Support business development by identifying potential clients, targeting new market sectors, updating marketing materials, and attending industry events.
- Prepare and assist in proposals and contracts, develop project scopes and budgets, negotiate fees, and obtain authorized signatures.

Candidates must be U.S. citizens eligible for a federal security clearance, hold a BS in Engineering from an ABET-accredited program, and have at least ten years of progressive commissioning or retro-commissioning experience in laboratory, life-science, pharmaceutical, or IQOQPQ environments. Strong business development, leadership, problem-solving, and communication skills are required, along with proficiency in MS Office and willingness to travel nationally; experience with cloud-based Cx software (CxAlloy) is preferred. Preferred qualifications include an MBA, Professional Engineer license, and certifications in commissioning, energy management, or LEED.
- Work independently with minimal direction, demonstrating success in similar project responsibilities.

- Bachelor of Science in Engineering from an ABET-accredited program.
- Minimum 10 years progressive experience in commissioning or retro-commissioning of laboratory, life-science, pharmaceutical, or IQOQPQ facilities.
- Proven business development track record for securing new opportunities.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for building strong client relationships.
- Proficiency with computers and MS Office Suite.
- Strong leadership, problem-solving, and communication abilities.
- Willingness to travel nationally as needed.
- Experience with cloud-based commissioning software (CxAlloy preferred).
- Master’s degree in Business Administration (preferred).
- Professional Engineer license (preferred).
