The Contact Engineer provides continuous onsite technical support and input to operations, sustaining projects, major projects, and technology development.
The role supports expense projects and process changes, monitors key performance indicators, and ensures corrective actions are communicated and followed up. It involves technical investigations, root‑cause analysis, and delivering recommendations to restore normal plant operation after upsets. The engineer performs studies, calculations for plant optimisation, develops monitoring tools, and compares actual operating conditions with design specifications. Additional duties include regulatory reporting, MOC execution, risk reviews, bottleneck identification, plant turnarounds, and maintaining living process documentation such as P&IDs, specifications, safe operating limits, and heat and material balances.
Candidates must have at least five years of experience in an operating plant and hold a bachelor’s degree in chemical or process engineering. Registration as a Professional Engineer with APEGA is required. Experience facilitating risk assessments and HAZOP studies, familiarity with P&IDs, process flow diagrams, fluid hydraulic calculations, and knowledge of thermal heavy‑oil operations are considered assets.
