

Supplies treated drinking water across southeast England via an extensive pipe network.
Your daily tasks include planning and prioritising work to meet customer appointments, and carrying out essential network operations such as mains shutdowns with full risk assessments and interruption reports. You will conduct proactive maintenance flushing, perform water sampling to regulatory standards, and accurately record asset data using Maximo and GIS. Supervising contractors, creating work orders, and performing site safety audits are also key duties. Additionally, you act as the primary contact for customer water‑supply requests and coordinate new connections with housing developers.
The role requires a full, clean manual driving licence and a good standard of secondary education with strong numeracy and literacy. You must demonstrate excellent customer‑service skills, the ability to work independently outdoors in all weather, and confidence using IT and work‑management systems such as GIS. Experience handling customer complaints or queries is essential. Normal work patterns run from 07:00‑15:00 to 10:00‑18:00, followed by a 12‑week standby rota with a Saturday shift, for which a £1,800 annual allowance and overtime are paid.
South East Water offers a hands‑on, career‑focused role where you will receive on‑the‑job training and develop lifelong skills. You will work on a rotating schedule between 7 am and 7 pm, Monday to Saturday, and participate in an overnight standby rota to respond to incidents. The core purpose is to manage the mains network and provide face‑to‑face technical support, ensuring a safe and reliable water supply 24/7.
