The Business Finance team delivers essential financial support to PG&E’s core units, encompassing analysis, budgeting, forecasting, performance reporting, and strategic planning. These services enable the company to meet its strategic, operational, and financial goals. Finance professionals in this department act as valued functional advisors, contribute to business direction, and receive active development and recognition.
This position is embedded in the Business Finance organization supporting Electric Operations, which oversees the safe, reliable, and affordable transmission and distribution system. The incumbent will serve as the primary finance and accounting business partner for the line of business, providing planning, budgeting, forecasting, tool development, and optimization analysis while supporting high‑profile electric programs and broader finance team governance. The role is hybrid, with 1‑3 days per week onsite at the Oakland General Office for meetings and business needs.
- Develop and align long‑term financial plans and performance baselines with operational and regulatory objectives.
- Coordinate monthly short‑term forecasts and provide balanced forward‑looking financial assessments.
- Deliver timely monthly financial visibility and proactive analytics to identify opportunities, risks, and recommendations.
- Create, monitor, and report on expense, capital, and expenditure budgets.
- Analyze and validate 3‑year and 5‑year planning outcomes.
- Produce complex forecasts and continuously improve forecast accuracy.
- Present findings and recommendations to management and stakeholders.
- Perform data quality assurance for reports and resolve data issues.
- Support business case development and validation.
- Develop and track metrics for process measurement, operations, or risk assessment.
- Mentor analysts and associates through informal guidance.
- Communicate recommendations and findings clearly to leaders and officers.

- Hold a Bachelor’s degree in engineering, mathematics, business, or finance with at least three years of analytical experience.
- Prefer a Master’s degree in business, finance, engineering, economics, or a related field.
- Demonstrate advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Access, and Word.
- Possess strong understanding of accounting principles and experience with financial modeling or forecasting.
- Ability to work independently and thrive in a fast‑paced team environment.
- Exhibit excellent interpersonal, communication, and quantitative skills with intellectual curiosity and drive for continuous improvement.
- Experience interacting with personnel across all organizational levels.
- Working knowledge of SAP R3 and Analysis for Office.
- Background in utility finance and accounting.
Benefits
The salary range for this Bay Area role is $98,000 to $134,000 annually, adjusted based on internal equity, skills, experience, and geographic factors. The position is also eligible for PG&E’s discretionary incentive compensation programs.
