Global Aviation Terminal Planner
Gensler
Designs and delivers innovative architectural, planning, and consulting solutions across sectors.
Plan and lead global airport terminal design, development, and business growth.
Grow and support both the Domestic and non-US pipeline of work as a Global Aviation Planner.
Security planning to include baggage handling systems and passenger security screening checkpoints.
Terminal facility requirements analysis based on developed program needs assessment.
Support and promote project opportunities, initially planning focused, for each and every region within the firm
Terminal benchmarking for comparison to proposed solutions
Travel for face-to-face workshops and meetings with clients will be required. For role assumptions, assume that this role is based in SF. The hours will be staffed by the San Francisco office based on project demands throughout the Practice area. Knowing that this role is to support the overall firm, the expectations is that staffing through the studio leader is coordinated with needs of the practice area.
Application of current industry regulations and planning guidelines, including Level of Service and industry best practices.
Concessions planning and layout.
Serve as a resource for multiple projects throughout the firm.
Terminal landside planning including terminal curbside, curbside vehicle lanes, vehicle parking and commercial vehicle planning and support equipment circulation/staging layout.
Interface with federal aviation agencies such as CBP, TSA, FAA, and a cultivate deep understanding of their standards.
The Global Aviation Planner will cultivate relationships in the industry and work with both Global Practice Area leaders and regional leaders to position our teams for winning work.
Develop, mentor, and grow aviation planning talent. It is envisioned that the role will identify and mentor a rising planner, and the candidate will support ongoing efforts to grow aviation planning resources within the firm.
Foster and grow a group of aviation planners passionate individuals to lead the practice into the next generation, US based initially, migrating globally as the market opens up (within 5-years). Our focus is to work and build relationships with international partners and to build our reputation for design excellence through our work.

Knowledge of current aviation industry regulations pertaining to airport terminal planning is required.
Knowledge of NFPA requirements as they relate to airport projects.
Knowledge of FAA Advisory Circulars and Orders that pertain to airport planning and design.
Architectural degree with focus on aviation planning.
Recent experience contributing to terminal facility planning design, phasing and implementation projects.
Adobe Creative Suite, SketchUp or other 3-D modeling programs a plus.
Understanding of terminal airside and landside components, and how they interface with each other.
10+ years of experience in the aviation field with recent terminal planning assignments.
Experience managing aviation planning projects, preparing scope of work, project budgets and working collaboratively with project teams to ensure delivery of high-quality project deliverables.
60-50% productive on Design Management (PM) and other aviation projects.
Familiarity with all terminal, landside and airside components.
Strong analytical, organizational, and communications (oral, verbal and written) skills are required for our fast-paced environment.
Proficient with Revit, AutoCAD, Word, Excel, and other graphics related programs.
Benefits
The base salary will be estimated between $105K to $190k plus bonuses and benefits and contingent on relevant experience. This role is not remote or hybrid; we look forward to working with our new team member in our incredible San Francisco | Offices | Gensler space.
