The material handler works under general supervision to load and unload materials in the yard or on‑site, assembling load packages for delivery to customer job sites. Duties include moving pallets, trucks, and customer vehicles, securing loads with strapping, bracing or padding, and ensuring each load is balanced and safe for transport. The role also requires reading work orders, operating hand trucks, electric dollies, forklifts, and using hand tools to open containers and attach identifying tags.
Applicants must have a high school diploma or GED and at least three months of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Forklift operator certification is required, along with manual dexterity, the ability to read and write work orders, and knowledge of safety procedures for materials handling. Competencies include understanding product weight and handling requirements, counting items against lists, and applying common‑sense instructions.
Work is performed in a production or yard environment with temperature variations, hazardous chemicals, mechanical parts, equipment noise, and dust. Employees must frequently lift and carry up to 25 pounds and occasionally handle up to 80 pounds, and may need to climb, push, or kneel during tasks. Reasonable accommodations are available for individuals with disabilities.
