The Field Engineer supports TEiC projects both on‑site and from the home office, spending roughly a quarter of the year at project locations. This role acts as a key member of the project management team, assisting with proposal development, planning, scheduling, execution oversight, tooling, safety, quality, subcontractor control, and reporting. The engineer also contributes to the estimation and planning of future projects while balancing on‑site duties with office work.
- Develop estimates and proposals after walking down work scopes, with Area Manager assistance.
- Write RFQs for subcontractors and obtain material quotes.
- Identify and mitigate proposal and contractual risks.
- Assist in creating and updating project execution plans and schedules (e.g., Primavera P6).
- Develop rigging plans and coordinate with third‑party engineers for PE stamps.
- Update project progress in the Ineight system.
- Issue purchase orders to subcontractors and vendors through procurement.
- Manage subcontractor performance and material deliveries.
- Ensure timely completion and submission of project documents and reports.
- Interface with engineering teams to provide direction and troubleshoot issues.
- Collaborate with project management and craft employees, offering guidance as needed.
- Participate in project planning activities such as corporate meetings, customer visits, and conference calls.
- Communicate with on‑site customer contacts to meet expectations and requirements.
- Report project progress, changes, and updates to clients and TEiC leadership.
- Prepare change order estimates and convey changes to clients.
- Review engineering drawings and assess project impacts for operations support.
- Support operations with proposal development, scheduling, and forecasting.
- Identify project challenges and propose solutions, including change order development.
- Track project progress, earned value, and manage rigging and execution plans.
- Manage time effectively between on‑site work and home‑office tasks.
