The Database Administrator (DBA) is a hands-on technical expert responsible for the day-to-day operations, maintenance, health, and performance of Cyncly’s critical database infrastructure. This role provides essential operational support for both on-premises SQL Server and cloud-hosted Azure database environments. The DBA is instrumental in ensuring high availability (HA), data integrity, and compliance with operational standards, working closely with development and support teams across all the Cyncly global regions.
- Provide technical help and training to junior team members to enhance overall team skill sets.
- Work closely with development teams, providing technical help, and ensuring database designs adhere to best practices and operational standards.
- Implement and manage the patching strategy, including applying Hotfixes and Cumulative Updates to SQL Server instances to maintain security and stability.
- Perform daily monitoring, health checks, and capacity reporting of all database systems, ensuring the successful running of scheduled overnight processes.
- Manage and execute database maintenance tasks, including managing backups, restorations, and disaster recovery processes to ensure data integrity and recoverability.
- Provide expert-level DBA support for all SQL Server and Azure hosted database environments.
- Apply advanced techniques for database and query performance tuning, indexing strategies, and optimization.
- Liaise effectively with support and development teams in IT to ensure collaborative problem-solving and service delivery.
- Maintain and support existing high availability solutions, including Log-Shipping, Failover Clustering, and Always On Availability Groups.
- Participate in database lifecycle management, including performing installations and configurations of new SQL Server instances.
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex SQL Server related issues and production incidents with a high degree of urgency, communicating daily progress and risks to stakeholders and management.

High Availability and Performance
- Cloud: Experience in Microsoft Azure IaaS and PaaS environments.
- Automation: Experience with PowerShell scripting for DBA automation.
- BI: Knowledge of implementing Data warehouse using MS BI toolsets.
- HA/DR: Strong practical knowledge in implementing and supporting high availability solutions (Always On, Failover Clustering, Log-Shipping).
- Utilize knowledge of SQL Server technologies such as Replication, SSIS (Integration Services), SSRS (Reporting Services), and SSAS (Analytical Services).
- Core Skills: Proficiency in database recovery techniques, performance tuning, indexing strategies, and deep knowledge of SSRS, SSIS, and T-SQL.
- Other DBs: Basic knowledge in other database systems, including Oracle and MySQL (or PostgreSQL).
- Prioritization: Ability to prioritize work effectively and escalate issues at an early stage.
- Experience: Minimum of 2-4 years of hands-on experience in SQL Database Technologies.
- Communication & Collaboration: Excellent communication and inter-personal skills, with the ability to clearly convey technical issues.
- Maintenance: Expertise in Patching strategy for Hotfixes and Cumulative Updates.
- Problem Solving: Strong analytical skills, a quick learner with an eye for detail, and ability to troubleshoot complex issues effectively.
- Infrastructure: Familiarity with underlying infrastructure (Windows Servers, Virtualization solutions, Linux).
- Apply proficiency in Microsoft Azure IaaS and PaaS solutions related to database services.
- SQL Versions: Extensive experience in various SQL Server versions.
- Possess a good understanding of RDBMS concepts and strong database design skills.
