Recognize, set up and operate hand and power tools common to the welding trade, such as shielded metal arc and gas metal arc welding equipment
Lay out, fits and welds fabricated, cast, and forged components to assemble structural forms, such as tanks, pressure vessels, furnace shells, and within all heavy construction
Welds metal components together to fabricate or repair products
Adhere to strict safety standards and procedures
Operate safety equipment and use safe work habits
Perform daily maintenance and safety checks
Weld components in flat, vertical, or overhead positions
Constantly perform repeating motions that may include feet, leg, wrists, hands and/or fingers
Lay out, position, align, and secure parts and assemblies prior to assembly, using straightedges, combination squares, calipers, and rulers
Examine work pieces for defects and measure with straightedges or templates to ensure conformance with specifications

Ability to work outdoors, exposed to heat and humidity, cold and rain, and around heavy traffic areas

Work that includes moving and/or lifting objects up to 50 pounds, carry at least 30 pounds and up to 150 pounds with help
Must be willing to work nights and weekends when necessary.
Ability to communicate effectively, both verbal and written with co-workers, and supervisors.
High School Diploma or GED required
Ability to bend, stoop, twist, and crouch in tight spaces or awkward positions, often when working on large or complex projects.
Good eyesight to inspect welds for quality and defects and read blueprints or schematics. This may include the ability to distinguish colors (for identifying the correct materials or types of welds).
Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, costs, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture and distribution of goods
Knowledge of welding and metallurgy (SMAW,FCAW, GTAW, GMAW, SAW)
Must have knowledge of materials, methods, and the tools involved in construction
Must pass a weld test (stick, tig, sub-arc, flux core, or mig)
