The Floor Technician (2nd Shift) works Sunday through Thursday, with shifts from 5 pm to 1:30 am, plus a Sunday 10 am to 6:30 pm shift. The role involves performing skilled painting and cleaning functions for commercial and industrial facilities, often working independently while collaborating with other trades on projects, repairs, maintenance, upgrades, remodels, and emergencies.
Key interior duties include emptying waste receptacles, removing debris and trash, vacuuming and shampooing floors and carpets, dusting and cleaning furniture, restocking and cleaning restrooms, washing walls, polishing and mopping floors, placing mats or runners during inclement weather, cleaning spills, and maintaining windows and window coverings according to established procedures.
Exterior responsibilities may involve cleaning building façades, windows, parking lots, walkways, gardens, lawns, outdoor furnishings, pools, fountains, curbs, gutters, hallways, and stairwells, as well as performing basic maintenance such as minor painting, light‑bulb replacement, window repairs, door and gate adjustments, simple plumbing fixes, and landscaping upkeep.
Additional tasks can include assisting with inventory control, supply ordering, snow removal (including salting and sanding), and supporting tenant moves. The technician must promptly notify management of spills, safety hazards, equipment failures, or any conditions that could affect building operations.
Competencies required are knowledge of safe cleaning‑agent usage, willingness to work evenings or weekends on call, reliability, thoroughness, observation skills, organization, flexibility, courteousness, effective listening, teamwork, and the ability to follow written or verbal instructions. Basic mechanical knowledge and prior cleaning experience are preferred.
Applicants need a high school diploma, GED, or equivalent technical/vocational training, along with some related work experience. The position operates in a professional office environment but regularly requires travel between properties in varied weather conditions.
Physical demands include frequent walking, standing, climbing stairs, and occasional lifting or moving of objects up to 25 lb. The employee may be stationary for up to 85 % of the shift, must travel up to 5 % of the time, and must adhere to safety protocols while using equipment such as vacuums, electric polishers, power tools, and cleaning chemicals.
Compensation ranges from $17.24 to $20.28 per hour, with a comprehensive benefits package that includes health, vision, and dental insurance, flexible spending and health‑savings accounts, retirement plans, life and disability coverage, and paid or unpaid time off. Cushman & Wakefield is an equal‑opportunity employer, complying with the ADAAA and offering accommodations for applicants with disabilities.
