• Mentor and support junior engineers and team members, fostering professional development.
• Support the tendering process by providing technical input and reviewing submissions.
• Ensure all works are carried out in compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations, including Irish Rail safety protocols.
• Review design documentation, drawings, specifications, and reports in accordance with Irish Rail and regulatory standards.
• Participate in our monthly HSQE & Driving Performance Awards.
• Manage project timelines, budgets, and resources, reporting progress to senior management and clients.
• Lead and manage civil engineering works on Irish Rail projects, including structures, stations, and associated infrastructure.
• Oversee site investigations, surveys, and assessments to inform tender and construction activities.
• Attend project meetings, site inspections, and audits as required.
• Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams, contractors, and stakeholders to ensure project objectives are met.
• Preparation of method statements, risk assessments, and construction phase plans.
• Liaise with Irish Rail representatives, local authorities, and other stakeholders as required.

Requirements

The successful candidate will be based out of Crecora, Limerick, while working on sites throughout the country.

As part of our expanding infrastructure team, we are seeking a Civil Engineer with a minimum of 5 years’ experience, including experience in Irish Rail (Iarnród Éireann) projects. The successful candidate will play a key role in the delivery and management of civil engineering works on rail infrastructure projects, ensuring compliance with all relevant standards, safety, and quality requirements.

• Commercial awareness and ability to manage project budgets.
• Degree in Civil Engineering or a related discipline.
• Experience in managing contractors and multidisciplinary teams on live rail environments.
• Willingness to travel to project sites as required.
• Knowledge of relevant Irish and European standards, including health and safety regulations.
• Familiarity with Irish Rail standards, specifications, and approval processes.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
• Strong understanding of civil engineering principles, rail infrastructure, and construction methodologies.
• Strong client-facing skills and ability to build relationships with stakeholders.
• Proficient in the use of engineering software (e.g., AutoCAD, Civil 3D, MS Project).
• Minimum 5 years’ post-graduate experience in civil engineering, with at least 2 years on Irish Rail projects.
• Awareness of environmental and sustainability considerations in rail projects.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organisational skills.
• Proven track record in the delivery of rail infrastructure projects in Ireland.
