Key responsibilities include preparing and reviewing contractor and consultant civil designs for generating stations and substations, conducting plant assessments and feasibility studies using present‑value and life‑cycle analyses, and providing technical support for dam safety, inspections, water management and reservoir operations. The incumbent will also prepare RFPs with detailed scopes, develop technical specifications, tender documents, drawings and cost estimates for in‑house projects, and perform on‑site construction supervision and commissioning of civil works. Project delivery must satisfy end‑users while adhering to corporate objectives, sound engineering practice and safety requirements.
Applicants must hold a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering and a minimum of two years relevant experience, be a registered Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) in Canada and be eligible for registration with NAPEG in the Northwest Territories. Membership with the Canadian Dam Association, experience in hydro generation, dam safety, hydrology or water management, and strong computer, communication and interpersonal skills are considered assets. A valid Class 5 driver’s licence and a satisfactory criminal‑record check are mandatory.
The position is classified as a bargaining‑unit role with a salary range of $66.22 to $80.48 per hour, a location allowance of approximately $3,823 per year and a comprehensive benefits package that includes health and dental coverage, life insurance, paid sick days and a defined‑benefit pension plan. Relocation assistance may be provided, and candidates must be willing to travel throughout the regions.
