This position provides analytical support to the Plaquemine Operating Units and emphasizes a strong safety culture. Responsibilities include writing permits, reporting injuries and hazards, using appropriate PPE, reviewing Job Hazard Analyses, and participating in unit safety training and monthly safety modules.
Key duties involve analyzing raw materials, products, intermediates, and by‑products using laboratory standard operating procedures to ensure product quality, documenting and reviewing results before release, maintaining lab efficiency, and complying with laboratory safety policies. The role also includes preventive maintenance, troubleshooting instrumentation, contributing to emergency response, and supporting laboratory housekeeping and 5S practices.
Applicants should have a bachelor's degree in chemistry or a related science (or equivalent experience), at least two years of laboratory experience, and basic skills in quantitative and qualitative testing. Desired qualifications include experience with gas chromatography, strong communication and computer skills, familiarity with LIMS, SAP, ISO 9001, and the ability to work 12‑hour rotating shifts with occasional overtime.
The job requires frequent sitting, standing, walking, and occasional lifting of up to 50 lb, with specific vision abilities such as close, distance, color, and peripheral vision. The work environment may involve moderate noise, the use of PPE, exposure to outdoor elements, and occasional travel.
