Primary duties involve operating the plant and associated equipment, including a loader, shuttle wagon, haul trucks, and a skid steer, while performing routine preventive maintenance such as lubrication and inspection. The employee also handles plant clean‑up, manages the load‑out facility, and completes any additional tasks assigned by supervisors or managers.
The operator is expected to actively promote safety through stand‑downs, SLAMs, and shift meetings, conduct required pre‑shift inspections, and maintain thorough paperwork such as LOTOTO sheets and inspection forms. They must demonstrate strong knowledge of plant operations for effective troubleshooting, work independently with minimal supervision, and communicate clearly with coworkers. Responsibilities also include managing product sampling at various process stages, loading railcars and trucks accurately and on schedule, and keeping all work areas clean and organized.
Task‑training covers shuttle wagons (both), Hitachi and CAT haul trucks (777, 980M, 980K, 972M), and a CAT 246 skid steer. Qualifications include safely completing assigned training, meeting performance standards, filling in for other roles as needed, and possessing a valid driver’s license.
The role requires regular standing, frequent walking, occasional sitting, and the ability to lift up to 40 lb regularly, 60 lb frequently, and 100 lb occasionally. Employees must have adequate vision (close, distance, color, peripheral, depth perception) and may receive reasonable accommodations for disabilities.
The MLS Tech (PLS Plant) position is located in Winchester and works a Monday‑Friday shift from 2 p.m. to 10 p.m., with occasional overtime. The starting pay rate is $27.28 per hour, and the role includes a tiered progression system that allows advancement to levels 2 and 3 based on skills, training, and tenure.
