  • Monitor KPIs to identify areas of concern or opportunities to ensure the business unit achieves its financial and non-financial targets.
  • Manage internal and external audit requirements, including audit requirements for joint ventures/ operations.
  • Lead the accounts payable process and team.
  • Financial management of joint ventures/ operations including monthly reporting to the relevant boards.
  • Lead the business unit finance team.
  • Work with the Divisional Financial Controller and Group to ensure consistent accounting policies, principles and processes are being applied in the preparation of financial information.
  • Promote and ensure that there is a robust financial control environment in place at all times across the business.
  • Review and challenge all aspect of development performance, including all costs and revenue streams, and ensure risks around margin recognition and WIP recovery are highlighted and managed.
  • Manage business unit cash and prepare robust cashflow forecasts.
  • Attend business unit board meetings, Divisional quarterly reviews, and budget presentations, as required.
  • Support due diligence on land acquisitions and new business in terms of strategy, financials, structure, review of legal contracts and financial reporting implications, including the preparation of technical accounting papers where required.
  • Prepare and present monthly finance board papers.
  • Preparation of financial business plans, budgets, and forecasts.
  • Own the business unit’s COINS Plot database.
  • Own all financial accounting and reporting for the business unit, ensuring compliance with the Vistry Finance Manual and associated Group policies and procedures. This includes but is not limited to reviewing and challenging journals, balance sheet reconciliations, management accounts and other month end outputs.
  • Business partner the Managing Director and other business unit board directors, providing robust business and performance insight and challenge.

  • Strong technical accounting acumen, including understanding of IFRS and joint venture accounting
  • Strong verbal and report writing skills with the ability to express financial results articulately at multiple levels up to Board level
  • IT literate including MS Excel/Outlook Relevant commercial and business partnering experience gained in industry
  • Effective communicator both with finance and non-finance professionals
  • Qualified Accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent qualification)
  • Experience of operating a robust financial control environment and driving change and continuous improvement in control, process efficiency and forecast accuracy
  • Agile working possible (dependent on role)
  • Experience of working in a matrix management structure and leading a finance team
