We offer you the opportunity to utilize and expand your academic background in engineering by joining a multi‑discipline team that improves nuclear power plant instrumentation and controls. The role blends electrical and mechanical engineering with control theory, working with process sensors, digital controllers, touchscreen displays, pumps, valves, heat exchangers, steam turbines and reactors to enhance plant functionality. You will prepare specifications and perform engineering calculations for upgrades and modifications, while receiving mentorship through classroom‑style sessions and on‑the‑job training. Travel to client and vendor offices for design reviews and to plant sites for project coordination and field verification is also required, and the position follows a hybrid schedule with three days per week in the office.
A BS or MS degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Chemical Engineering from an ABET‑accredited program, with strong coursework in analog and digital control systems, is required. Candidates must have at least three years of design‑engineering experience in nuclear power plant control systems and possess excellent written and verbal communication skills. Sargent & Lundy does not sponsor work authorization in the United States for this role.
