As a LEED Certification Reviewer you will advance GBCI’s goals by delivering high‑quality, on‑time technical reviews of LEED submissions for energy and indoor air‑quality compliance, using your industry experience, technical expertise and project‑management skills within a dynamic cross‑functional team.
You will report to the Associate Director and work closely with Technical Development, Technical Customer Service and Operations teams, engaging directly with project teams through written and verbal communication aligned with the organization’s mission and strategic objectives.
- Deliver on‑time, high‑quality technical reviews of LEED submissions for energy and IAQ compliance.
- Analyze whole‑building energy models, ventilation calculations, renewable energy and GHG claims per applicable LEED version.
- Perform QA/QC of work by GBCI peers and subcontractors, adhering to internal guidance and timelines.
- Apply LEED requirements, ASHRAE standards and energy codes; provide clear, actionable review comments and support process improvements.
- Share knowledge and collaborate across teams; communicate effectively with project teams and owners.
- Assist in refining GBCI programs, policies, plans, and credit/reference materials.
- Contribute to improving the certification review process using expertise, data insights, and user feedback.
- Liaise with USGBC, standards developers and technical committees.
- Maintain current expertise by tracking emerging industry issues and trends.
- Complete an assessment if advanced in the interview process (details provided later).

The role is remote within the United States, with a standard Monday‑Friday schedule of 9 am‑5:30 pm in the employee’s time zone, requiring availability for Eastern‑time meetings and 5‑10 % travel for conferences or retreats.
- Minimum 5+ years professional experience in mechanical system design, energy modeling, commissioning or energy auditing.
- Bachelor’s degree (Master’s preferred) in architecture, engineering, planning, construction management, building operations, or environmental science.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite and energy‑modeling software.
- Experience with high‑performance building projects, especially LEED, focusing on energy, water, or indoor environmental quality.
- Ability to read and interpret architectural, envelope, MEP, controls, commissioning reports and operational policies.
- Technical knowledge of building systems and relevant codes/standards (e.g., ASHRAE 90.1, 62.1, 55, California Title 24, etc.).
- Field experience in HVAC, construction, or facility management preferred.
- Demonstrated success with process improvement.
- LEED AP required on hire (specialty preferred); professional license preferred.
- Fluent in English; additional languages preferred.
